Why Carmel Valley clients choose our studio
Carmel Valley is one of the newest parts of San Diego, and that shapes what is nearby. One Paseo and Del Mar Highlands give you great food and retail; they do not give you a body piercing studio. The options inside Carmel Valley come down to a jewelry counter with a piercing gun, or a short drive. We would rather you made the drive, and we say that for a reason, not as a sales line.
A piercing gun forces blunt jewelry through tissue with pressure. It cannot be fully sterilized, it cannot be aimed with any precision, and it does real damage to cartilage. Every piercing at our studio is done with a single-use, pre-sterilized needle, which cuts a clean channel instead of tearing one. That single difference is the biggest factor in how fast your piercing heals and whether it heals straight.
- Real piercers, not retail staff. Your piercing is done by an experienced piercer who does this work full time.
- Since 2002. We have been piercing San Diego for over two decades, from the same Pacific Beach studio.
- Walk-ins welcome. No booking system to navigate. Come after school pickup, after work or after dinner — we are open until 10pm.

Piercings we offer to Carmel Valley clients
Everything below is performed with single-use needles and quality body jewelry. Not sure what you want? Come in and ask — we spend as long as it takes talking through placement, healing time and how a piercing will sit with your face or ear shape.
Ear piercings
Lobe, helix, forward helix, flat, conch, rook, daith, tragus, snug, anti-tragus, industrial and orbital. Ear projects are what we do most. If you are building a curated ear, come in with a rough idea and we will map the whole thing across several visits so each piercing goes where it will still look right once the others are in.
Facial piercings
Nostril, septum, bridge, eyebrow, labret, medusa, monroe, vertical labret, snake bites and dahlia. Septums and nostrils are the two we are asked about most from north county. Both can be worn discreetly — a septum retainer flips up out of sight, which matters if your workplace or school has a policy.
Body and surface piercings
Navel, nipple, sternum, collarbone, hip and back, plus surface bar, nape and chest placements. Surface work is the least forgiving category and the most anatomy-dependent, so we assess in person and say honestly whether the spot you want will hold.
Oral piercings
Tongue, venom, smiley, frowny and frenulum.
Getting here from Carmel Valley
You are about 15 miles from the studio, and the route is almost entirely freeway:
- Get on I-5 South from Del Mar Heights Road or Carmel Valley Road, or take SR-56 West if you are on the eastern side of Carmel Valley near Torrey Highlands.
- Stay on I-5 South past Sorrento Valley, La Jolla and the UTC turn-offs, roughly 12 miles.
- Exit Grand Avenue / Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach.
- Head west on Garnet. We are at 1028 Garnet Ave, in the heart of the Garnet strip.
Outside peak hours that is usually 20 to 25 minutes. On weekday afternoons between about 4pm and 6pm, I-5 South through Sorrento Valley backs up, so allow extra time or come later in the evening — we are open until 10pm and the drive after 7pm is often under twenty minutes.
Parking: there is street parking along Garnet Avenue and throughout the surrounding side streets. Evenings and weekends are busier, so the side streets a block or two off Garnet are usually the quickest option.
Carmel Country Highlands, Pacific Highlands Ranch, Torrey Hills, Del Mar Mesa and Torrey Highlands all funnel onto the same I-5 or SR-56 route. If you are already heading to Del Mar or La Jolla, we are only a few minutes further south.

We have been piercing people from this part of San Diego for years and we know the area our clients drive in from. Carmel Valley sits between Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve and the canyons, with Torrey Pines High School and Canyon Crest Academy anchoring the community, One Paseo and Del Mar Highlands Town Center as the social center, and Del Mar and Torrey Pines State Beach minutes to the west.
It is a young, active area. Many of our Carmel Valley clients are students, tech and biotech workers from the Sorrento Valley and UTC corridor, and parents coming in with a teenager for a first lobe piercing. That mix shapes how we work: we explain everything, we do not rush, and we answer a parent’s questions as carefully as we answer their teenager’s.
If you are combining the trip with a day out, Pacific Beach makes that easy — the boardwalk, Crystal Pier and the whole Garnet food and coffee strip are within a couple of blocks of the studio.
Jewelry, safety and how a visit works
Before you are pierced. We talk it through first: what you want, where it sits, how it heals and whether your anatomy suits it. If it does not, we say so.
Marking. We mark the spot and hand you a mirror. Nothing happens until you look at that mark and say yes. You can ask us to move it as many times as you need — this is the step that decides whether you love the piercing or quietly regret it.
Sterile setup. Needles are single-use and opened in front of you. Tools are sterilized, the work surface is prepared fresh, and everything that touches you is either new or has been through the autoclave.
The piercing itself. A needle piercing is quick. Most people describe it as a sharp pinch followed by a warm ache that fades in a minute or two.
Jewelry. We fit quality body jewelry sized for the swelling that comes with a fresh piercing rather than for how it will look once healed. You come back later for a shorter post or a different piece once things settle.
Aftercare briefing. You leave knowing exactly how to care for it and what a problem looks like, and you can call or text us afterwards with questions.
Aftercare
Healing is mostly about what you do in the weeks after, not the few minutes in the chair.
- Saline, twice a day. Sterile saline spray on the piercing, morning and night.
- Hands off. Do not twist, rotate or play with the jewelry, and do not touch it with unwashed hands.
- No swapping early. Leave the original jewelry in until we tell you it is safe to change. This is where most problems start.
- Water. Skip pools, hot tubs and the ocean while it is healing — which matters here, because Torrey Pines and Del Mar beaches are ten minutes from you.
- Sleep. For ear piercings, keep pressure off that side. A travel pillow works well.
- Timelines. Lobes heal in a couple of months; cartilage often takes six months to a year. It looks healed long before it is.
